WELCOME – Riggs Family Reunion
This week ECF is honored to host the very first “Reunion Sunday with the Riggs Family.” They are a family not only blessed with a rich Pentecostal family heritage going back to the early 1900’s; but they have a musical gift from God. We are delighted beyond description to share today’s service with them as well as this afternoon’s “5th Sunday Singing!” Let’s enjoy the debut ministry of the “Riggs Family Edition!”
Anyone who has been around me for any length of time soon learns my deep appreciation for one of my major mentors, the late Rev. Paul E. Riggs. I served as his Youth Pastor, Youth Choir Director, Choir Director and an Associate Pastor for over six and a half years. Of which 2 years I lived in their home. During those years not only did I grow close to Brother & Sister Riggs I also developed precious friendships with their families too. Welcome “Riggs Family Edition!” ~Pastor David Oxley
Sermon Series Continues – “Dressed for the Battle.” Ephesians 6 describes, discusses and instructs the Believer in our spiritual armor. Every sport has its required uniform/armor. Life is more than a “game” – it is eternal! It is a matter of life and death. In this series we will explore all 7 parts of our spiritual armor. Prayer is the all encompassing weapon. Prayer is our secret and stealth weapon. Next week we will conclude this sermon series with “Prayer – Praying Always” Part 2.
HOPE: The basic definition of HOPE is: “The belief that something good may happen.” Hope is that intangible that has a direct influence / bearing on the tangible. Proverbs13:12 says, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but when desires come, they are a tree of life.” Hebrews 6:19 says, “Hope is the anchor of our souls.” Romans 15:13 is our cap stone verse for 2014. “Now may the God of Hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in Hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” May it be said of us at EFC – that ECF is a “Place of Hope” and that we are a people of promise! AMEN!
